Also known as the Siameze Cat Chorus or the Siamese Cat Chorale, this group of talented kitties is the most remarkable assembly of feline singers in the whole known world. Even though participation is not limited to Siamese cats, the Chorale began as part of the Siamese Cat Club. When the SCC was just starting out, members were wondering what we could do, and I (Ceilidh Flurrydance, the most beeeyoutiful Siameze) said, "We could sing! We could have a chorus! Because Siamese cats sing the bestest and the loudest and the most beeeeeeyoutifullest in the whole wide world, and everyone loves to hear beeeeeyoutiful Siamese singing!" Well, no one could argue with that, now could they?
But we really didn't get the chorus together until the First Annual Spring Furball Prom. And it was sort of a surprise. I was reading about the Prom, and my special valuntine winkwink Rocko and I were going to go, and then I saw a list of the members of the Prom Committee, and there was my name as kitty in charge of the mewsic. Now I knew Major was going to lead the orchestra, so I hadn't really thought anything more about it. But there was my name! All the kitties were counting on me! So I hurried up and thought of what songs we could sing. And I asked all the kitties on r.p.c. to send me ideas for songs, and there were lots of good songs.
I put together a program for the chorus to perform while the band took a break, and all the kitties could rest from dancing and sing along too if they wanted. We sang "We Are Siameze" and "The Song of the Cadbury Hunt" and "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" and a medley from Cats and "That's Amore" (because it's about pizzas and moons and love) and lots of other kitty favorites.
We even had a guest soloist, Giuliani, the Shepherd in the Brite Yellow Prom Dress (and Honorary Cat), who sang some Elvis numbers for us.
.
We ended with all the kitties joining in singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," in honor of all our frends at the Rainbow Bridge. And we all had a wonderful time.
I especially had a wonderful time with my winkwink Rocko -- he sang first tenor in the Chorale, and look at the beeyoutiful prom bouquet he sent me! That's me on the left, and my housemate, Talisker Pippin, on the right. She thought my flowers were salad and tried to eat them, but I wouldn't let her.

The next time we sang (I think -- the Chorale secretary is a lousy recordkeeper) was at the Furrst and Fourth uv July parties that year. It was suggested that all the kitties could do living tableaux of the Catnadian and Amurrrican flags, with the red and white kitties doing the maple leaf, and the blue and gray kitties joining in for the starsnstripes. But we needed mewsic for the tableaux, so I suggested that the Tabby Cat Club members sing "Stars and Stripes Furever" (Because they have stripes and stars in their fur). And of course the Siamese Cat Club Chorale wanted to sing, too, so we got the words to "O Catnada" from my mentee Rusty-the-Tiger's mom and changed them just a little so they were cat words, and clever kitties wrote words to the "Stars and Stripes Furever" (because that song didn't have any words), and new cat words to the Star Span-gulled Banner, and we made a very patriotic display with the flags and the songs at both the Furrrst of July party in Catnada and then the Furrrth of July party in Catifornia. (You can read our speshul words to all these songs by going to our Songs of the Siamese Cat Club Chorale songbook.)
Since then, the Chorus has sung at lotza wedwinkings and other rpcc events like the Jellicle Ball, and last year we began work on our first CD (working title: "We Are Siamese", but I think it's going to have to be "We Are Siamese and Friends, because so many other kitties have joined our ranks). Unfortunately, there have been innumerable delays, and the CD is currently "on hold" indefinitely.
As noted above, we're not just the Siameze Cat Club Chorale any more. Lots of kittiez who aren't Siamese have joined--I guess all kitties love to sing! And with so many different members, we have high voices and low voices and all kinds of voices so we can do any kind of song. But we're keeping the name, because we began as part of the Siameze Cat Club and our first members were Siamese (or Siamese-sounding) cats. And of course, it's a good marketing point, because everyone loves beeeeeyoutiful Siamese singing, so new fans will come to hear the Siamese singing, and then they'll hear all the other wunderful kitty voices too. Here's one of our younger members, practising the Happy Purrrrday song (one of our alltime favorites):

We're a furrry relaxed and informal group. We don't keep records of who's in the chorus -- any kitty who wants to sing is welcome, and we've always had enough kitties to perform whenever we needed them. We practice mostly at parties, because lots of kitties are all together there, and spikearitas and shubeers really help the mewsic. And we have great parties after our performances, too. (And we love singing at the wedwinkingz because there's always lots of good food there!)
So that's the story of the Siamese Cat Club Chorale (or the best I could do without the records the secretary can't find--what can you do? She's only hoomin!). Lots and lots of rpcc kitties have contributed to the Chorale's success since the furrry beginning, and I want to say "Fangu" to everykitty who's participated, and welcome any kitty who wants to join the most talented group of singers in the world.
