As told by Skye Silversong at the 1999 Jellicle Ball. This is Skye Silversong, and I want to tell the story of the Siameze Cat Chorale. Back in the days of rpc, kitties started lotza clubs, an dere wuz da White Cats' Club an da Orinj Cats' Club, an da Tuxedo Nation (I belong to dat groop) an da Siameze kitties started da Siameze Cats' Club. Den dey sed, "Whut shud we do inna Siameze Cat Club?" An Ceilidh Flurrydance, a roundbrown Siameze kitty an my bestest frend, sed, "We cud sing! We cud haf a chorus! Cuz dere izn't enny more lufly sound den da sound uv Siameze cats singing!" An nokitty cud argue wif dat (well, dat's whut Ceilidh sed -- she wuz my bestest frend, so I guess she knowed). So Ceilidh (say KAY-lee) becamed da founder an furst Mewsical Direktor uv da Siameze Cat Club Chorale. Da furst purrformance wuz at da Spring Furball Prom in rpc, an den dey singed atta Furst-an-Furth uv Jooly parties in Catnada an Catifornia. An efurrykitty had a gudgud time singing. But pritty soon lotza kitties wanted to sing, an efurryone agreed dat da more kitties da better da singing. So ennykitty who wanted to sing wuz welcome an yew didn't haf to be Siameze. In fact, yew didn't even haf to be a kitty, cuz at da furry furst Prom dere wuz a gest soloist -- Giuliani, da Sheperd inna Brite Yellow Prom Dress -- of course, Giuliana wuz named a H.C. -- honnerary cat -- dat furry nite. But we've kept da name Siameze Cat Chorale becuz dat's how we began. At furst we nefur kept a formal membership list, cuz Ceilidh didn't want kitties who wanted to sing to feel dey cudn't if dere names weren't onna list, an dere always seemed to be enuff kitties to sing whenefur we needed dem. But after a while we started keeping a roster so we cud haf sumfing to put inna purrograms an alla kitties cud git to know eech oter. But yew still don't haf to be onna roster to sing inna Chorale. Just show up an join da groop -- all kitties are gudgud singers so da more da merrier. In January, Ceilidh went to da Rainbow Bridge, but before she left, she passed her direktor's baton on to me, cuz we were bestest frends and I'd been helping out as Furst Assistant Direktor. An so da Siameze Cat Chorale iz still singing an still part of rpcc, an I hope efurrykitty who likes to sing will come join us whenefur yew want (we always haf gud refurreshments atta rehearsals an purrformances too). An we haf some noo memfurs singing wif us fur da furry furst time tonite. Dey are: Fancy, Rosebud, Licorice, Scooter, Mollie, Kissa, Willow, Spook, an Cecil Gerald. An I wud also like to take one more minnit to honner two Chorale memfurs atta Bridge whose names are being read tonite: Ceilidh Flurrydance, House of Laing, an Munchkin, House of Koster.
